- The "Day of 7 Billion" - when the population of Planet Earth will reach 7 billion - is projected to occur sometime around February 2012.
- Assuming the current growth rate of 1.167% continues, the world's population of 6.7 billion will double to 13.4 billion in nearly 60 years (around 2069).
= Carl Haub of the Population Reference Bureau estimated the number of people who have ever lived at 106 billion. Other estimates range from about 45 billion to 125 billion.
- Given a global population of 6.7 billion and accepting Haub's estimate of 106 billion, it can be calculated that about 6% of all people who ever existed are alive today (6.7 billion divided by106 billion = 6.3%).
