- The U.S. Census Bureau estimated the United States population officially reached 300 billion at 7:46 a.m. (Eastern Time) on Tuesday, October 17, 2006.

 

- Each 100 million in population has been added more quickly than the previous 100 million. The U.S. reached its first 100 million mark in 1915. 52 years later, in 1967, it reached the 200 million mark. Less than 40 years later, the U.S. population topped 300 million (2006). The U.S. Census Bureau's revised projection now estimates the population will hit 400 million sometime in 2039, four years earlier than previously projected and only 30 years after reaching the 300 million mark.

 

- The population of United State represents ony 4.5% of the total world population but ranks third behind China (number one with nearly 20%) and India (second with nearly 17%).
